Strongest possible team please RM, and don't feel that you have to squeeze Stevens in just because he's a great bloke, team Capt and players favourite - Bednarek & THB are our best 2 centre backs, KWP is the best RB in this league (and half the Prem tbh) and Manning is, well he's also an RM favourite, I'd prefer Meghoma, but he'll pick Manning. Midfield 3 has to be anchored by Downes, with maybe Stu & Aribo, but RM will probably go with Smallbone. Up front let's hope Brooks is all better, Fraser could also return so it's a coin toss between Adams & AA I guess. Boro blow hot and cold but still have an outside chance of making the play offs, we should be too much for them, I'm hoping 3 weeks off has recharged the batteries and refined our tactics rather than going stale, can we please start like we mean it, convert possession & chances into goals and have a comfortable lead at half time . . . . . . .

KWP Bednarek THB Manning
Aribo Downes Stu
Brooks Adams Fraser

Interesting that Stu & Che only got minutes from the bench in both Scotland's recent defeats.
Stu is understandable as they have a good crop of midfielders and Stu will definitely be their #17 in Germany.
Che's situation looks bleaker. He played second fiddle to first Shankland* and then Dykes. He needs a fantastic run in with us to push past those before June. Hope to see that happen...
*Shankland is the bloke we should have signed instead of the CNM. We'd probably be promoted by now if we had.

Bednarek has been sitting on that single booking away from a 2 match ban for a while now. It seemed inevitable he'd get it eventually and be banned. But I wonder if he's far off the threshold of games now where he might escape it if he can just hold on a bit longer?

But I wonder if he's far off the threshold of games now where he might escape it if he can just hold on a bit longer? It is THIS Saturday. If he can stay un-booked by 37 games he is safe. I had to look this up but found there is a further sanction of a 3 game ban for anyone reaching 15 "D" points in any season. Ergo, if he manages 6 more cards in our last 9 he misses the next 3 (which might help us hang onto him if we don't go up).

KWP, Fraser, Bednarek & Brooks all declared fit & firing by RM - I also quite like his comment from the press conference 'The beautiful thing for us is that we've been written off by everyone'

No chance of Automatic promotion after that.
Still, Bedders is available for Monday...

Well, nothing's changed in where we are or in how it feels watching us. We're playoff bound, we huff we puff and are not deadly enough at either end to credibly expect to come through those play offs. We're a good side at times, but we're not one of the three best teams in the league.
I know we'll all be seething, but in a normal season this team would probably have just made it into 2nd. Likewise, if it were Stewart those chances fell to not Che, we'd probably have had 3 points. Even so, somewhere at the Venn diagram intersect between style of play and personnel, we aren't good enough. For me, it's the failure to be clinical enough up front and the refusal to go a bit streetwise with 2 DMs to defend a lead when we subsequently go under the cosh.
