Bollocks.
Still, my Boro supporting friend is happy.

We don't deserve to go up. How many times have we wondered how we dominate games without winning this season? Have we learned nothing on those 3 weeks? Watching our build up play sometimes is like watching paint dry, only more predictable

Well, nothing's changed in where we are or in how it feels watching us. We're playoff bound, we huff we puff and are not deadly enough at either end to credibly expect to come through those play offs. We're a good side at times, but we're not one of the three best teams in the league. I know we'll all be seething, but in a normal season this team would probably have just made it into 2nd. Likewise, if it were Stewart those chances fell to not Che, we'd probably have had 3 points. Even so, somewhere at the Venn diagram intersect between style of play and personnel, we aren't good enough. For me, it's the failure to be clinical enough up front and the refusal to go a bit streetwise with 2 DMs to defend a lead when we subsequently go under the cosh. I agree with that and would add the failure to sign a striker in January.

That felt like 78 minutes of trying to throw it away as slowly as possible.

What a shame....
TBH, this has really deflated me.
Oh well.... LA here I come! Hopefully I can care less while out there.
Happy Good Friday all

And Ipswich have just shown us how to attack with purpose. Watch and learn Martin

TBH, so far over the season, Leeds, Ipswich have deserved promotion the most... I think Leicester have been riding their luck and not all that... I really thought the wheels would come off.. Play offs and absolute lottery, I don't think us and Leicester (whoever) will both get to the final.
There is always an upset..

Having followed the team for so long I really shouldn't be so pissed off tonight, but today reinforced my earlier belief that we are destined for another season in this league. I continue to not rate either Sulemana or (especially) Mara. And whilst the Che knockers are having a field day they surely must acknowledge that we were weakened by his withdrawal and also that of Adarma. Fraser is a must for Monday as I believe should be Aribo.. No doubt Che will be punished but even Lumley is a better finisher than Mara. Farton Park here we come

Arse, Arse, Arse.
I am seething after that, but at least I get to go away for a few days to forget. I will not bother watching the Ipswich game on Monday, as we are doomed. One of our little gang of ST holders has a ticket for what will be his third away match of the season. The other two were Sunderland (5-0) and Bristol City (3-1). We haven't been able to persuade him to go and stand in the home end...
I look forward to seeing Portsmouth next season.

Didn’t see it, or hear it.
A door opens and we shit through the letterbox.
I’m just angry.

We defended quite stoutly for nearly the whole game but missed chances and then sat back and it cost us. Adams’ misses were the most glaring but he wasn’t the only culprit. Smallbone blasted it over the bar with the goal gaping and then tried to claim a corner. The temerity! It was such a promising start too. AA’s finish for the goal was great - he didn’t try and leather it like he often does when he skies it. This time he just put his foot through it, kept his head down and guided it into the bottom corner past the unsighted keeper. It’s a shame he and no one else could follow it up.
I was very disappointed with Mara when he came on. Sometimes he shows occasional flashes of something very promising but this time he just jogged around putting no pressure on the ball, not making any forward runs, not really winning any headers, not holding the ball up, basically not contributing anything. We really needed a high energy performance from him and it didn’t materialize. It was a waste of a sub.
It was good to have people like Bree, KWP and Fraser back but it was clear (and understandable) that none of them were fully match fit. Bree is normally quite solid but looked way off the pace at times. KWP faded as the game went on and Fraser didn’t make his usual impact off the bench. It’ll take a bit of time for them to get back to it. Brooks looked off it as well - he missed a couple of opportunities to lay it on a plate for others.
Sulemana drives me completely mental, or at least he did before I stopped hoping that he’d do anything productive with the ball. He got half an assist for the goal at least so I guess we should be grateful for that. He can’t even sidefoot a cross to a team mate without finding the keeper first Only Saints could make a club record signing in the Premier League who can’t even score during a full season in a lower division. I know he’s spent some time out injured but he’s a total waster. Good luck getting much of that money back on him. I’m having a party when he leaves. Why is Tall Paul still out on loan when we lack options up front FFS? It’s because Martin thinks that having no one is better than having a beanpole striker, even though Kieffer Carthorse is happily hoofing them in for the Tractor Boys at the moment.
What’s the club got against Chris Nicholl? Don’t SR like fans to be reminded of past Saints managers who built exciting teams on a shoestring budget? I don’t think we’ll make any progress as a club until Martin and SR are both out on their arses. Maybe we can still beat Pompey though.

In a world where the unlikeliest of shit can happen it is nailed on that Coventry will reach both the FA Cup and Promotion Play Off finals which are scheduled to be played on the same weekend. We could get a Bye...
