Just read a report that Russell Martin held talks with Brighton during the international break, as they will be needing a new manager for next season... Not sure the strength of that, but i suppose with the departure of Wilcox and the likelihood of more Championship football for us next season, then that sort of thing is inevitable.

Honestly, I think he's OK but it wouldn't be a bad thing I don't think, except for for BHA - they'll get ripped apart playing this football in the PL
If Coventry don't go up through the play offs Mark Robins should be who we're after to replace. He was who I wanted last summer and I still think he's the man based on what I've seen of Coventry. Someone tap him up tonight.

yeah, what Benny said… Except I'd be more positive about him leaving (if we didn't have the owners we do who have saddled us with the managers they have… Track history is not great)

When I went to the Sheff Weds game earlier this season a certain Graham Potter strolled past me and into the Exec entrance where he was warmly greeted by RM, so they clearly know each other and appeared to be quite pally - RM to BHA & GP to Saints would be a masterstroke, which guarantees it won't happen!!

Am I alone in hoping he stays..?
You need time to build something.
Look - I’m seriously pissed off at recent results, but short termism never gets you anywhere.
We (well, not me…) wanted shot of Ralph. We got Nathan Jones.
We wanted shot of NJ - we got that other fella… (is the fact I really can’t remember his name an indictment of my mental state or his impact??)
RM’s style of play might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but at least we have an identity. We also have a young squad that will only get better.
I want stability, a crusty old CM and a centre forward next season, whatever league we are in.

As ever I'm with you, we have made massive managerial and squad errors in the past, RM has done a good job, but I just have that niggling feeling that it could have been better, but maybe that's just that typical man thing of always wanting just that little bit more, of everything! We are 4th, we've won alot of games, we've scored alot of goals, we've entertained alot of people - but, and it's my 2nd big BUT in two days, would the manager of Leicester, Leeds, Ipswich or even Coventry (or Hull) have done a better job, I don't know, none of us do, we can speculate but we really don't know - can we still go up by winning the Play Off Final, absolutely we can!!

He lives in Hove, doesn't he? I can kind of see 2+2=5 here. He's got a playing style that makes him De Zerbi-replacement material, but I'm not sure this season is a great audition for him. With the DofF changing I can see his position being weaker than it was, but I think he's very much shown himself as a young manager with promise this season, not more than that.
As frustrated as we are, I would caution against additional upheaval beyond what is inevitable this summer (KWP, THB, etc). It is quite incredible how much turnover there has been in the playing staff and the management in the last 2 years, and that needs to settle down before we drift into limbo.

Would be surprised if 'held talks' was even remotely accurate. Brighton still have a manager and they would be bat shit crazy to try to tap a manager up right now and there is no way that we would have given permission for talks at this late stage of the season.
I think more accurate headline would have been 'Martin on a very long list of potential candidates (most of whom are far more highly qualified) for the Brighton job should their current manager leave'.

I would like to see him get a crack playing football like this with a really good signing in that position.

He has made mistakes for sure, but I think next season will be more of a level playing field in the Championship. Unless Everton get properly done over, we'll probably have Sheff Utd, Luton and Burnley coming down and none of those have the foundation of PL-standard players that will allow them to steamroller everyone else. It'll be open for a well coached side to do well, without the need to aim for 90+ points. I still think he is a good coach. And this is assuming we don't go up through the play offs, which we still have a good chance of winning. Especially if Leicester are there with us- I'd always thought Ipswich would be the best opponents out of the current top 3 to face in the play offs, but if you think we have had our confidence shaken recently, can you imagine how Leicester would be feeling if they end up 3rd after being so far ahead?

Brighton would have to be off their rock(er) for that to happen.
