And all of a sudden, a round of matches goes our way.
That Ipswich game is a killer, read the table through the lens of getting three points there, or even just the bloody Boro points. Ouch.
But Watford/Preston/Cardiff. Absolutely no margin for error but 9 points would make that very interesting with then 2 x 6 pointers.
Whilst we are out of this, there is still the sheerest glint of Light
Happy Thursday all of you

Good morning Gents
1 win in the last 4 games doesn’t make me feel we have become auto promotion contenders but who knows, This league is great, so hard to predict, I was looking at Preston, if they beat Norwich Saturday then win their game in hand (against us Tuesday) they move into the top 6, could they be that team that comes late and steals the 3rd promotion place? Whatever the outcome, I have loved this season, hope we get to Wembley, I’m then really not bothered if we win or lose, I’d really got fed up with the prem,, I’m not ready to have a season where our only aim is to get 35 + points

Realistically we are out of it.
Let's assume we win both games in hand for a second. Puts us on 84 points 4 points behind with 4 games to play. That means 3 teams above us have to get poor results in at least 50% of their remaining games and we have to basically win all of ours.
Add to that that our games in hand our Leicester and Preston...
The maths says 4th, but the maths can be wrong sometimes...

Because of our goal difference, if we win our 2 games in hand ( unlikely) we still need to make up 5 points in 4 games (mathematically possible, but given our relative form, pretty preposterous)... there's no point entertaining the possibility until we're within 2 points of the top 2.

These 3 games can help us build momentum ahead of the play offs. Get that winning mentality back into the squad.
A good result against Leicester or Leeds might mean that either of those teams face us again in the playoffs and will give us more confidence as well. I wouldn't completely rule out overtaking one team and Saints ending up 3rd, but it might be a bit much to expect two of them to drop enough points for us to end up second. A Plymouth win against Leicester on Friday night though and it gets a bit interesting.
Also interesting point about Preston. We should probably hope that Norwich beat them on Saturday to make our game against them a bit of a dead rubber for them.
