My sister in law did it yesterday, she's disabled and wheelchair bound, Mrs ECS & I got 1 day travelcards and went in at about 1pm - sister in law went off at such a pace that she had passed Tower Bridge (12 miles) by the time we got there, so we were straight back on the DLR to Canary Wharf (which is a bloody nightmare to get out of!!) and we settled at the 18 mile marker to wait.
I was genuinely amazed by the turn out, both the crowd and the participants, simply awesome and incredibly inspiring, completely multi cultural/racial, everyone incredibly supportive, the positivity and enthusiasm was infectious, it didn't matter if you actually knew one of the runners, you still shouted out their name and gave encouragement, it was bloody brilliant!! We saw her at 18 miles, again at 20 and 24, we then jogged the last 2 miles with her, as we went along hearing her name being shouted out by literally 1000s of people I must admit to getting somewhat emotional - 26.2 miles in a (standard) wheelchair is an incredible achievement!!
She completed in 6hrs 30mins, Mrs ECS & I eventually got home at about 9pm, over a large glass of red we discussed next year, and whether at 58yrs young I should give it a go . . . . . . .

Excellent. A nice inspiring story to lift the general gloom on here. Well done her.

Fair play ECSinlaw.
Never did it and probably never will, but did the London 10k a couple of times which goes along the final bit of the marathon course and was surprised at the turnout for that, and at what a difference the crowd makes to keep you going (the 2nd time it was 34 degrees and a right slog).
Did anyone else watch this year's on telly? I particularly enjoyed the 2nd brit (who came 4th) in the comms as he was called Muhammed Muhammed
