What was the final score in the City game last night? I turned off at halftime at 3-0 because it was so dull and one-sided. That’s without Shrek up front FFS and Brighton are one of the better sides in the division. What a shit league it is! Yet again I am feeling that Saints are better off in the Championship, especially if Leicester are going up and can’t thrash us again next season. We’ll just have Pompey to look forward to / worry about instead. I’ve also got PTSD from my one and only trip to Fratton. At least I didn’t see any of the Leicester humiliations live in person as that’s worse. I’ll take the Skate taunting to the grave. (Shudder).
The episode of Mr & Mrs Smith I watched last night instead of yawning through the second half was good though. It had Sharon Horgan in it and I now I’ve decided I fancy Mrs Smith. She’s no Angelina Jolie but she’s got something about her. I’m still trying to work out if I fancy Bug Eyes in Fallout. She’s in Yellowjackets too and I can’t work out if I fancy her in that either. I think I probably do but she must have the biggest eyes in the world. She must be good at finding stuff and I’m not so on that basis we must be made for each other.
Don’t Saints games come around quickly at the moment? At least we can get back in the saddle tomorrow. I’m need to keep reminding myself that these recent poor performances and results will all be forgotten if we scrape through the play-offs. I might even come back for a trip to Wembley. It’s been so nice without VAR this season though. I wish they’d just drop it. Saints have already been denied a Wembley trophy and that was pre-VAR so I’m not fussed about it now. It’s ruining top level football.
I’m WFH today thankfully. There was a bus strike yesterday and I was rammed in the vestibule while on the U Bahn. It felt like people were deliberately banging into me but they probably weren’t.
Oh yeah, I nearly forgot that I went for lunch with someone in another team the other day (because she caught me off guard with a lunch invitation at a team building event when I was saying that I never knew what other people were working on). We were talking about inflation and she was saying that her favourite shower gel has increased from €19 to €24. I don’t know if shower gel is like gold dust in Bulgaria or if something was lost in translation but who spends that much money on shower gel? Maybe it was some fancy lady conditioner or something but bloody hell! It goes straight down the plug hole FFS. You might as well dry yourself off with banknotes and put them straight in the bin afterwards. Maybe it’s made from asses’ milk or something.

I had a great night in Portsmouth last night. Hard Skin were fantastic, it was good to catch up with them again (they have been friends since before they started this band), and laugh at their crowd baiting (their thing is that they are Millwall fans, even though they aren't really, and they goaded any Pompey fans in the crowd about how Millwall are going to batter them next season). It was even nicer to be there with so many good friends. It was a tight squeeze in the back of my car for three of my travelling companions, but the alcohol fuelled conversation on the way home was as funny as ever. Usually it gets quite political, last night it was about post gig snacks (it was funny, honest, but you probably had to be there, not that there was room for anyone else).
After yesterday's busy day of driving round, me and the dog are having a day at home, and she hasn't left her bed yet, so I have made more tea and fired up the musical box.
Socks are bamboo Breakfast was Toast - does breakfast count as a post gig snack? Music is SNFU's first album 'And No One Else Wanted To Play'

Morning
I hope today is better than yesterday, where I lost the whole day to a 3 line whip request from on high, so today I'm playing ketchup.
We did have a pleasant evening last night though.. someone had organised a pizza, pint and pottery painting evening for a mate's birthday. Sadly there was no wheel action a la Ghost, but it was quite therapeutic painting a skull mug into a Mexican day of the dead theme.. I look forward to my first cuppa in it once it's glazed and fired.
Tonight we're having an early tea in town and going to see Dune 2. I thought the 1st part was OK, but still preferred the Lynch madness of the original. Hopefully pt2 will deliver to bring the new offering up to par.
As for Saints, they could do with some Bene Gesserit wisdom... fear is the mind killer.

morning my beauties, last music track of my first week up on the thread. Furry Frank The Combat Wombat, Dune 2 is not bad actually, I really like it more than the first one, although I found it to be basically the first film's ending… It works really well back to back. It makes the first film less frustrating… although I did feel that it was a little bit "teenage angsty" in this version, I'm still not really sure what all the sulking was about from Spider-Man's girlfriend? don't worry yateleysaint, Saints won't be forcing you to watch the premiership next year… Not a fecking chance

You have to hand it to Carling/Barclays. The Premiership was great marketing as loads of people still call the PL this even though it was last used in 2007!

Mrs Spidey is no Sean Young (and the Mrs will tell you that Timotei Cauliflower is no Agent Coop... in fact across the board the new cast isn't a patch on the old one, except maybe Skarsgaard... and there's the big lad off of tits n dragons for the ladies)

Is it a better film than the original? Sure. Do I like it more than the original? Absolutely not. The Lynch one was flawed but was certainly memorable, I can't imagine I'll remember scenes from this 30y later. Chani being miserable was I guess a facet of the new one being tilted to be more from the perspective of the oppressed locals rather than from the colonial masters... fair enough in this day and age. Chalamet wasn't a patch on Maclachlan as a messianic leader, and the cast as a whole weren't as good imo. My other issue was the downplaying of Paul's mental abilities and ignoring the key point of the spice being key to the navigators and therefore the whole galactic civilisation. So as a whole, decent film and probably a lot more accessible for the general public but a bit lacking as a dune (books) fan and bland compared to Lynch's bad trip. Don’t get me wrong, i thoroughly enjoyed it and it has made me want to revisit the books again, though, so that's a good thing.
