Sounds great and I actually understood all that. Any particular make of speakers I should be looking at? Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

amplifiers and speakers are really a matter of taste, it also depends what you wire them with and what's in the room that you're going to be using them in. That being said there's a few options here from one of the more easy to use sites that people sell this kind of thing second-hand on. BTW, I'm not selling any of this gear and I can't vouch for how well it works (although I do buy stuff from different people on there most of the time when something comes up that I like and I've never had a problem... but you've got to be careful and use a bit of commonsense). Anyway, here's some options, one amp and several sets of speakers with a range of prices and style, you ought to listen before you buy though, most people won't mind giving you a demo. retro groovyness for £150Cheap as chips but you can do better, maybe good enough for now?you just want the "Epilogues" out of this lot or you might like these floorstanding Tannoy 611's?

Shit, fallen in love with the first thing on the list and I'm not sure I know what It flipping' does. 70s Japanese loveliness isn't it, I don't really care if it doesn't work I just wanted on the sideboard There's a lot to be found if you want to look around, if you get stuck or you want some advice rather than boring everyone else just send me a PM and I will look into it for you. Likewise, if you've got a budget, join a forum post your budget and see what you get offered, if you don't know what it is just ask and I will be glad to help you out. Good luck, if you start this it's very difficult to stop I'm warning you! ;D

if you can get the guy (technobear) to sell the pioneer amp towards the bottom of the page (with pictures) to you then this would be a serious contender for you, quality bit of kit for £100 and it does moving magnet and moving coil for your turntable delectation. I'll leave it up to you from now on Pioneer A676

FFS We've still got some Piegga and Sonus Fabers speakers giving good service although I still have a soft spot for Wharfedale speakers with a B&O amp. I'll get around to japanese stuff one day

(At least they are now)

I've got some big Korean speakers I got off a mate cos his wife made him ditch them... they're prob 20y old, but they've got a reasonably natural sound, considering they were free.
