Hello chaps. No snow this morning in South Wilts. The rain came and took it all away. Mrs R seems to be stuck up in wildest Essex. I hope she's back in time to cook my roast. Just reading a cheerful item on the BBC website about booze and death which may be of interest to anyone with a headache. I stuck to half a bottle so I'm OK. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-16869618

I drink more than that. I cooked rather a nice roast beef and yorkshire pud for lunch. Actually the beef could have done with a few minutes less in the oven but the roast tatties and the yorkshire pud were the business.

good Sunday to you all, I don't know why everybody is being so unfailingly positive about yesterday, it was not good… Unless Nigel can create some of the magic he created last year at the end of the season we are blowing it. Still, not too late yet, Morgan did well and Puncheon was adequate so I suppose there is a base there to go on and do something with. I hope the cup doesn't interfere with the league, it might provide an opportunity for us to start to learn to score goals again in which case that would be really good, let's hope so. BTW, how is Camberwell for snow anybody? Got to be there all day tomorrow and whilst it's pretty much gone here I don't want to drive into it again Playing away from home at the form team in the league and we looked the better side in appalling conditions. I don't really know what your expectations are but I would suggest that you might be expecting a bit too much. Two wins out of nine games, I think you are expecting too little… the conditions were awful yes, but we did not get a shot on target that was worth a damn, that is bloody awful considering. I would've taken a point from this game at the beginning of the season, but not now after such an appalling run of form. anyway, like I said, not too late yet

Morning all. Everything is all white here.
Personally i was happy with a point. But I was interested to note the interviews with Kelvin and Nige immediately afterwards. In answer to being asked whether they were happy with a point, both immediately said no, and you could tell they meant it. For me personally, every weekend that we are still in the top 2 from now onwards, that is good. Every club up there are having good results, but they are all also having bad ones. Even Wham, despite what the media are telling the country.

It seems to be contradictory. We have had a poor run so maybe getting a draw at Brum is a good result. You have to consider that we are playing a good side and they would equally expect a performance from a game at home against a top team. Against Cardiff and Brum we have been unlucku not to come away with more. I think the optimism is based on the improvement and return to somewhere near our early season's performances. There isn't much to seperate the top sides in the Championship and the fact that we are still second despite the wobble proves that all the teams are taking points from each other. The question is who will step up and put a run together and I believe that Saints are starting to show signs that we could do just that.

I'm not giving up hope, but most teams seem to be set up to make it tough for us now, so we have to win when we do manage to run the midfield.

The question is who will step up and put a run together and I believe that Saints are starting to show signs that we could do just that. It's not contradictory because our recovery games should already have taken place… And quite frankly we are nowhere near our early-season performances. We may have lost games (admittedly not snowbound ones) 3-2 or something like that but we wouldn't have not scored at all, let alone not shot at all… That's what I find unacceptable and very worrying. As for the other teams dropping points, that's true, unfortunately, other teams that were nowhere in it are now right up behind us because of the dropped points, it really is going to be much more of a challenge than it should have been. I will start to breathe easier when we start to score goals, until that time, we can only pray the others don't score against us and we get draws, this won't get us out of this division. Anyway, what's the point of endlessly chewing this shit over? Millwall to practice and then the next real game with Burnley next Saturday, let's see if they get enough points and confidence from them to go to West Ham and look to actually win it

Crashhot if Camberwell is anything like Crystal Palace, and it will be I think, it will be fine. Roads clear s bit of silliness on the pavement. Woke up this morning to 4cm of snow and couldn't get up our road but eventually managed to get to Surbiton OK so you shouldn't have to many problems.

I think Billy Sharp will get goals in this team.

Cheers, I will soldier up through the ice and see what I get and rags, I really hope you're right about the results but I think you are spot on with Sharp, he will score for us if we give him the ball in the right place

I'm not giving up hope, but most teams seem to be set up to make it tough for us now, so we have to win when we do manage to run the midfield. I think this is the challenge for Nige now- he recognises the need to control the middle of the pitch but he seems to feel that we lack a cutting edge without a second striker. His dilemma (tri-lemma?) is whether to sacrifice width (using the diamond), the second striker (4-3-3) or the extra midfielder (4-4-2). In theory the wingers in a 4-3-3 should be able to effectively operate as strikers where play demands it (see Barcelona), but most of our forwards aren't used to playing 4-3-3 and perhaps don't quite yet understand where they need to be and when. Patience is the key.
