Pleased he's gone, really don't care about the national team (sadly), all the love and joy has been squeezed out.

I'm off to research my family tree in the desperate hope that I have some foreign ancestry.

They are really going to give him the job. What a fiasco.

In Agreement with that sentiment Pat, except that if they've got real ambition they'll right off the Euros with Pearce in charge and then appoint Mourinho in the summer.

Apparently O'Neill has already rented a house in Soho. Bernstein personally delivered his new England tracksuit, but on finding that Martin had popped out for a spot of sushi, left it for him on the doorstep. Apparently.

Fair play to Capello for taking a stand against the anti-racism that is rife at the FA. He obviously feels very strongly about his anti anti-racism stance.

THE ONLY ONE... Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill on Capello's resignation: "I'm terribly disappointed. He's earned the opportunity, having taken his team through to the Euros, to go whole distance. I'm disappointed it's come to this. Fabio is not only a fantastic manager but he's earned the opportunity and if he has resigned over the [John Terry] incident it's very sad. If there's anyone to succeed Fabio it's Harry Redknapp. I think Harry Redknapp will be the next England manager and he deserves it."

Fair play to Capello, he's come to the conclusion that we're going to humiliate ourselves at the Euros again because he wasn't strong enough to get rid of the old guard and start afresh, so he's engineered a situation where he can get out of the contract before he properly gets egg on his face.

Not sure I agree with that. In the past couple of years Hart, Wilshire, Welbeck, Cahill and Carroll have all featured in the England team and he hasn't been afraid to leave out the likes of Ferdinand and Lampard.

Too little too late, the lot of them should've been shelved straight after the African debacle and started from scratch.

I watched the press conference. 30 minutes to tell us they can't say exactly what was said during the meeting; that because Capello resigned, the question of firing him is hypothetical and cannot be answered; that they won't mention any names with regards to the next manager; that, yes, it would be good if he is English but they still have open minds; no, we cannot say what was said about a financial arrangement because it is confidential. And the journalists lap it up.

And another thing ...
Can someone please explain to me, in simple terms, why football fans with more than half a brain think Redknapp would be a step backwards in the job and all the journalists in the kingdom, along with the bookies, swear that it's nobody but him. I really don't get that.
