Make no apologies for thinking about the poor bastards who went down with Titanic 100 years ago (almost to the minute).
Thought the BBC tribute from Belfast last night was tastefully done. The factual stuff was well delivered and the music was well chosen, especially the lovely Miss Benedetti's contribution.
Going to watch the GP in a minute. Don't normally watch these Asian races live but a Mercedes on pole (first time since Fangio in '55 FFS!) makes this one special.
Feels like bloody winter has returned so I'm responding with a beef casserole in the slow cooker today.
Stop mourning the Saints FFS. We ain't dead yet!

Morning, off for a bike ride with Ivan (and others) as they continue to prepare for London to Brighton. Sun's shining, weather is sweet, yeah!

I will be spending all day at the Sporty today, big netball tournament. Hopefully this sun will stay out; last year it rained so hard the whole thing was abandoned.

Morning all, looks nice out; Just settling down for the GP to see how the Beeb's offering compares to the shiny geegaws on the other side.. the grid does indeed look interesting, although I'd be more partial to Lotus upsetting the applecart than the behemouth of Mercedes. Probably won't get to watch it all at this sitting, as my folks are coming up for lunch and to tut at our gardening ineptitude. Hopefully their disdain at our efforts will ensure they sort some of it out as well! Just tea so far...

Hola!
Sun shining. I think that I've caught Ms StB's cold - although it appears to have mutated into flu before I got it!
Pottering... might well watch the semi-final this afternoon.
Have a good day y'all

morning, I was just snoozing trying to lie in when I remembered what happened with the football this weekend and it woke me right up…
… I've spent all morning with an empty hollow feeling in my stomach that has nothing to do with no breakfast which luckily has now gone away mostly.
I'm finding it irritating that the outcome of football matches seem to mean quite a lot to me even when, consciously, I seem to be able to detach from it… Obviously not!
Now I'm going to watch the Grand Prix I recorded earlier

Hello. Evening here. The CEO is in town this evening and we are 40 at dinner in the Dragon Palace - the hotel's swanky Chinese restaurant with rotating table top. The beer is all right but I'm not sure about the Baijo. It's a lot closer to rot-gut. Bloody football.

33 miles on a frigging bike?! Feck that. I couldn't do one third of a mile.
I watched the second half of the Chelsea Spurs semi final. The decision to award Chelsea's second goal was ludicrous.
I must have started the healing process as I managed to watch the FLS back tonight. I did Billy Sharp a disservice as I thought it was him rather than Lallana who missed that header. I was in row D near the away dugout so couldn't see feck all. SRL had a good header chance too but put it to close to the impressive Federici who has kept 19 clean sheets in the league this season. I also didn't think much of Kebe's performance but it turns out he had a hand in their goals. I thought SKD should have come for that cross but in fairness it was brilliant. If only SdR could cross like that.
Saints played quite well but didn't take their chances. They gave the ball away a couple of times in dangerous areas and were punished by more clinical finishers. It's not the end of the world but it's a pity Brighton bent over for Wham. Poyet is a clown.
Hopefully Chaplow will score the winner against Fergie Jr on Tuesday night.

London to Brighton is 58 miles and it's all downhill if you look at the map! I managed it a few years ago - except for Ditchling Beacon, which I walked up. A correct decision as one of the hardier members collapsed and died of a heart attack - quite ironic as it was all in aid of the British Heart Foundation. So if I could manage it at my advanced years I'm sure that you could.

I did it last year, it was fun. Got up ditchling ok, but it was frigging hard. But it was easier than trying to keep up with LB today!

Pah, I was just on a good day. You and Al rode very well, it was "interesting" in that wind.
I was thinking on the way home that if you combined the route that we did last time and the route that we did yesterday you'd have an epic training ride that would be slightly longer than L2B, with some great climbs but lots of really fast terrain. All you'd have to do is turn right as you drop back into Houghton from Stockbridge and then you're on the start of yesterday's loop. It's easily doable sub 4 hours (ride time) and there's some great pubs on route if you wanted to stick a coffee/lunch stop in.
Stats from Garmin - 32.49 miles, 2hrs 18 mins, ave speed 14mph (sounds slow but with the climbing and the wind it's ok!) max 35.9 mph, 2771ft of climbing (Garmin climbing includes any time the bike rises a foot so even the slightest of inclines registers. The graph is better but I can't upload that on here!)
Oh and if you're a fat feck like me then it's 2464 calories burned.
