I'm very glad that Nige is our manager I will be when he shows that he's a bit more like Paul Lambert and can tailor his team and their formations to suit particular games. 'Cos he'll have to in the PL.

NC has stated that his aim is to 'compete' in the PL not just make up the numbers.
To do that will require more than just a handful of new faces.

I reckon Les Reed and Nicola will already have a short list of targets in the Summer sales.
It will depend if we get them all and if Nige is up to it. I expect us to struggle.

Pretty much that. And Puncheon. Yes, and I was going to include him and Connolly, but realistically, I'm afraid I don't think either of them will be heavily involved.

Players I would be confident are good enough: Lambert Fox Schneiderlin Lallana Cork Maybes: Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Very, very possibly De Ridder It's the old, brutal, Peter Taylor philosophy- "observe and replace". You're top 5, I'd replace Fox with Davis and but Fox in the maybe box I'd add Lee, Guly and Puncheon to the maybes and drop Fonte and De Ridder We need Goalkeeper to compete with Davis - Looking at who might come down maybe Robinson, Al Habsi, Hennesey or Bogdan will be interested in moving to a prem club and all would be decent challengers to KD Defenders - A LOT - Two CB's to compete with Hoovield, replace Fonte and Jaidi and encourage the development of Martin and Seaborne. LB to replace Harding and compete with Fox. Maybe a RB but Richardson with Butterfield supporting isn't bad Midfielders - Hammond, Chaplow, De Ridder out, need a 'Danny Murphy' type player Strikers - Connelly and Barnard would have to go and I'm not convinced Sharp would cut it at the top... So two strikers/attacking players... If we do go up and Blackpool don't I'd love to see Ince and Philips outside Lambert in a three

For all the praise Brendon Rodgers has received for the football Swansea play, Lambert has proved to be the better manager because he has developed a side that has several different ways of playing and knows when to utilise each.

Which has been a bit of a problem for Nigel this year who has taken a "Barcelona" approach to the whole thing in that he had decided to play "his football" (my comment not his) irrespective of whether it might work and then change it half an hour after it bloody obviously doesn't! But he does talk about adaptation so I'm presuming this is one of his abilities

Pretty much that. And Puncheon. WHERE THE F*CK IS PUNCHEON?! if we don't go up: a) i'll be angry he hasn't been used. and b) would you begrudge SRL leaving to go Prem?

He'll always be a Southampton legend for his contribution and if we don't go up he absolutely should

someone will pick him up in the summer, he was sensational on Friday and people can't ignore his goal tally over the last three years... if we don't go up it would take a monumental effort on his part to refuse some of the offers that he's going to get.
If he went I wouldn't begrudge it for him, I wouldn't know where to look to replace him but good luck to him nonetheless
