Went to Southampton's new museum today and I was very impressed. For once our council appear to have done something properly. I left feeling a real sense of civic pride. Walked round to the Guildhall square for some lunch at the Carribean restaurant and noticed that this end of town now looks very smart and is actually a nice place to be.

Good to hear.
Modern (multi-media) museums are invariably shit-hot. The Roman Army Museum on Hadrians Wall and Bede's World at Jarrow are both fabulous. Glad to hear the Sea City one is too.
Will pay a visit myself once the hulabaloo has died down.

Cheers for this, might take Year 3 down there later this term. The interactive stuff is very good. I would imagine school trips will be great. As well as the obvious Titanic stuff there is a display featuring the multicultural nature of the city due to being an important port. Mrs Rags' MA is museum based and she said that she thinks it is brilliantly curated. High praise from her I can tell you.

I'll make a beeline for it too at some point.

Hoping to take my nipper there in the Summer. He loves the interactive hands on stuff and he likes historical stuff too, so it's right up his street!
