Now we've exceeded Markus and Nicola's original target for the 5 year plan, we should probably have a new one.
So, ignoring the necessary (ie survival next year) or pie-in-the-sky (champions league), or trying to predict where we might get to, I am going to say the new target for the end of 2014 is 8th in the league and a cup final. I like the circularity of that.

In terms of a new 5 yr plan, you have to make that something that will attract decent players, like the current one of getting to the prem attracted players hungry to achieve that... So the next 5 yrs has to be Europa League football as the target and once we've achieved that one...

Go along with Benny here although not so ambitious for next 5 years. Part of our past history has been the lack of ambition by the club. This is why we have always LOST great players rather than sign them. So top 4 in five years would be about right. I know this is difficult for long term fans to grasp, OUR club vying for such exalted positions. But as I have said to Nick on a number of occasions, we have a new club with new ambitions. The past is gone, if not forgotten. Now (hopefully) we must become accustomed to our clubs new desire, success at the very top

I'll bet Cortese is setting his sights higher than the above targets. Who we buy in the summer will give some indication though.
