This definitely comes under Burls' "boring magic" umbrella...
Ok- I set some maths problems yesterday. All HTU-TU. One of them was 137-78=59. After a while I realised that if you make find the difference of both 137 and 100 and 78 and 100 and add them together, you get 59- the same answer as when you subtract 78 from 137. I don't understand why though and it's making my head hurt trying to work it out!
You are probably all terrified that I have to teach maths to kids now...
