It is notable that we have a few players who are turning up against the big teams like City, Man U and Spurs, yet seem to be mailing in their performances in the 'winnable' (lol) games.
I guess it's a shop window thing.

As was said after Man U. This was the month to change the manager and get in at least 2 new players. One week from the end of the window nothing has changed.
Getting relegated with the players we have and the money we have in the bank would be scandalous. There really is no excuse to be only 2 points from the foot of the table.

I completely agree with that. I just don't get the club's attitude at the moment. At least their public attitude, I wonder if they are as sanguine in private?

Even if he does understand the financial implications of relegation he doesn't know the detail, i.e. the remaining games we have left, how many home games are against the big boys, how poor we have been away from home and how getting to 38 points is looking very difficult to achieve. I think Reed gets it but has painted himself into a corner in that if he sacks MP he makes himself look incompetant and might as well save a bullet for himself. He knows MP is clueless but is just hoping something miraculous takes place. I think the new owners have no interest. I have no idea why but to pay 1/4 of a billion for a business which is badly struggling but not put in any of your own people in to oversee/report back/rectify the issues just beggars belief. Something needs to change.

It's mad isn't it. Gao isn't a billionaire and so to him this is a major purchase. You would have thought the first thing he would do, even if not putting his own crew in charge for the off, would be to put one of his trusted lieutenants in place in the UK, to be on the board of the holding company and the football club, to be going to SMS to work daily and to re reporting back on what he is seeing.

I get that he had to use family money to complete the purchase, as his original intention was to use Lander Sports as the vehicle for the purchase. I suspect that this is still the long term aim, with maybe using redevelopment of St.Mary's as an advert for what Lander can do. Otherwise the transaction makes little sense to me.

He couldn't use Lander but don't think it was family money. The purchase was funded from bank loans. I don't think the re-development of a run-down area of a provincial UK city would have been the reason. For a start he hasn't got the funds to develop the area and if it were economically viable to do so it would already have been done so I can't see anyone who would be willing to partner up with him. Getting money out of China is f'king difficult thanks to their govt. Now he has got approval to buy the club he has a large amount of money, funded from loans, in UK bank accounts so I think this has to be a major reason for the purchase.

What do you expect to see/hear from the club? I'm sure they are looking at transfers, I'm sure they are trying to address whatever problems they can and I'm sure they are giving whatever support they can to MoPo. You can bet they are fully aware of how close we are to being regulated. It seems that because we haven't sacked the manager people assume we aren't doing anything else or just dithering. Doing nothing is a decision.

Doing nothing is a decision. That is a mantra I see trotted out by Investment Managers. It is a recipe for failure. In Saints case, I hope that they are on the verge of a couple of signings, as without them, we will not score many more goals than at present. This is a failure for well over a year now.

I guess that is the point... we've known we needed a striker since Manny went off the boil and we knew we were getting a wodge in for Tracy Island well before 1st Jan, so why are we quite so slow in acting? I understand that players like Walcott and Porridge might be waiting for better offers, but we should have a plan b ready to sign the moment they say no.

I hate it when commentators say the ref "didn't make a decision" if he didn't blow his whistle. Yes he did. He decided it was not a foul. Now, whether Saints have made a decision not to act or whether they are working to execute a decision or if they are just dithering, afraid to make a decision, are three different scenarios.

I meant doing nothing regarding the manager. We will be doing something regarding players in as I can't believe that any prem club in our position would be this cavalier.
