You are 1-0 up with subs left to play and under a little pressure. Who the absolute hell decides to bring Mara on instead of a midfielder or defender…
Who does that?

Automatic promotion is unlikely now but I really don’t trust this lot to go up via the play offs either.

TBF Mara did show off his new hairstyle while jogging around and failed to win a few headers.

Yup, that was kn the manager as well as Che, terrible decision making to not fix the midfield when we were being overrun.

Listening to Jo Tess pointing the string of errors today suggests he knows more about winning than any of the twats on the payroll.
When Adam was bemoaning the quality of the football Jo shouted him down. "It is not about playing nice football, it is about winning" says Jo.
He then explained that we should have taken off 2 attackers on 75m and gone 5-4-1 and just hit them on the break. Whilst I admire Russ's principles there are more than one way to win matches.
Has Jo got a Coaching Licence?

I just feel massively let down. We should have won that game at a canter, but we conceded a stupid fecking goal right at the death.

I think the problem was we did try to win the match at a canter. We sort of controlled the game without actually controlling it. If we had scored 3 in the first 12 minutes instead of 1, playing like that would have been OK.

Such a waste. But for the Buffoon bringing on Mara instead of Bednarek/Manning we would have had a great, great day and been back in it. I’m so angry he keeps blaming ‘bad’ goals. It’s his responsibility.

My beloved KWP was at fault for the goal but it should never have got to that stage. Subs should have the energy to press the ball. Aribo would have been better than Mara at doing that.

I'm still angry about this. Franny on co comms was saying repeatedly in the 2nd half "sure, you want to win by more than one goal, but if you can't you make sure you win one nil and you don't concede." This absolutely underlines the OP and that people who know the game know. Martin still hasn't learned some of the basics. Why can't we beat Rotherham, Millwall or Boro?

Probably having the best goalkeeper in the EFL explains that one.

Its all so easy in hindsight eh. I do kind of agree that we should have shut up shop, but of course that would've invited more pressure, and if we had done that and conceded, some on here would have called RM a buffoon for going defensive with the quality we have. This all boils down to not having the out and striker needed, but I don't hear anybody ridiculing Wilcox

In these days of greater financial responsibility those sort of calls can ruin your season. If Forest or Everton had done what we did with Stewart they'd have spent another load to replace him then bitched about the points deduction. Leicester were more unlucky in that they pissed in the Big Club's pockets by winning 2 trophies and recruited to try to remain competitive. When they failed to qualify for Europe they were stuck with players on long contracts and big wages who they could not get rid of. It makes them competitive in the EFL but further reduces their revenues so the EFL will be after them as well as the Prem.

If we beat Ipswich then all is forgiven.

But Martin is paid a lot of money to make these calls and to get a very squad functioning properly. We have not seen much progress, if any, since Christmas. Indeed, performances seem to have gone backwards.
