Is it my turn again next week? You followed me last time so I guess so. It's 300s game, but he definitely has more important things to think about at this stage in this week

Day 4, a collaboration The other day we were talking about people we don't like and it not impacting how i feel about their art... Well here's a prime example. Roger Daltry has IMO shown himself to be a proper bellend in recent years, but I love The Who and I loved this collaboration with former Dr Feelgood Guitarist Wilko Johnson from 2014. They did a whole album and I had it on regular rotation for a year or so. Wilco had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer when this was released and so it was widely thought it would be his final act, he managed to fight on for some time after however. Absolute belter! I’m still tapping my feet…

It's the final day of my week and it feels like I just got started - probably not for you lot! Having a theme really helps me enjoy contributing to this thread because it means I have to pick some stuff that I'm probably not listening to that regularly at the moment and it brings it back front and centre for a while. Having only five songs in a theme is also really tough - so much stuff misses out and so it's time for the honourable mentions from this theme of spin offs, collabs, supergroups, solo projects etc... I've covered all the G'n'R stuff already At the start of the week I thought I'd be covering Scars on Broadway, another System of a Down spin out from guitarist Daron Malakian but then I had to use Serj's Empty Walls There are of course some huge acts that are spin outs from previous bands (probably most to be honest, but I'm counting bands that had albums out prior to the new band) Pearl Jam came out of Mother Love Bone, Audioslave out of Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden (+ Chris Cornell had his own solo career - famously doing a Bond song too), Foo Fighters from Nirvana, Megadeth from Metallica and so on... I also really wanted to get Jack White's solo stuff in here - I prefer it to the White Stripes Ian Brown did a couple of great solo albums in the early 00's, also from Manchester of course there's Liam and Noel's solo projects and side bands, John Squires Seahorses, and of course Morrissey and Johnny Marr's solo work For my final song (on this go around) I'm going with the lead singer from one of my favourite bands. This is Brian Fallon from The Gaslight Anthem. I first saw The Gaslight Anthem supporting Pearl Jam in Hyde Park I reckon about 15 years ago - the line up that day was incredible, Gomez, Ben Harper, The Hives and of course Pearl Jam but The Gaslight Anthem captured me the most. They are probably the only band I keep constantly downloaded on my phone so I can play them in the car, I went out and got all of their available CDs the day after the Hyde Park gig. You'll hear the Springsteen influence on TGA and Brian in this song and they're completely unashamed and in fact own that. Here's Brian Fallon and it's over to OneBeat for next week who is going to be even more noisy than I have this week - we really should have been split up

Yikes. Great week again Sir B3na1i. Good to be exposed to stuff I wouldn’t normally listen to.

Damn and Blast! Liked Monday's reggae but not so much the midweek stuff. Then on Friday, here comes The Heavy. Just ordered 2 of their albums. FFS! 😁 - that makes me very happy! When my mate introduced me to the Heavy years ago (with an offer of a ticket to see them) he said something like “say hello to your new favourite band”. He wasn’t far wrong. The House that Dirt Built and the Glorious Dead are their best albums, I reckon. Thanks for introducing me to this great band. I just bought Hurt & the Merciless and Sons at random and they are both terrific. Have just ordered the 2 you recommended. How I never heard of them defies belief. They come from Bath FFS. If they were footballers they'd be playing for Saints now. Anyhow, to celebrate you and 299 becoming 599 today, how about a bit of this:

I have a theme for this week, but the first song has no story attached. I don't know too much about the band, only that they seem sound, I like them a lot and this song has been stuck in my head for a long long time.

I love The Lovely Eggs, their new album is great, it has a harsher, heavier sound, but I think I prefer their more stripped down songs like this one. Looking forward to them playing at Papillon in town towards the end of the year.

There's a bit of a children's TV goes punk quality to it and think I'm going to be caw caw cawing all day now

I currently have "feck it oh yeah" going round my head.
