Oh yeah, another crazy sub from Martin. Bringing on the awful Mara and making him worse be playing him as a winger. He looked like he couldn't be arsed tbf.

As you know I don't think Mara is awful, but why the feck play him wide. Don't know if it was obvious to those watching on TV but he appeared to be making a point. He was lofting floaty balls into the position that a striker should be in. I thought he was basically saying, that's where I should be. But to make the sub even worse, Adams then goes off (good game yesterday) and Mara is still left wide with what looked to be Stu through the middle!!

I've always liked Coventry as a club. I guess I always thought of them as similar to us during my football initiation years. Their fans are great. Were great the day we got promoted and they went down. Good to see them back and going pretty well.
I thought they were one of the best teams we've faced down here to be honest. Considering they could have been entirely focused on the Wembley trip I felt they gave us a decent game.

If he is from here he would not be allowed to referee Saints if he was a fan. Ergo = Skate Bastard! That's what we said after some really questionable decisions, not the least of which was the penalty decision. He’s either a Skate or on crack.

It was utterly baffling, unless RM was trying to make some sort of point that he has no strikers apart from Adams... which we all know, but I can't see how it helped, other than convincing Mara that he has to leave.

It makes you wonder why Charles was left out in the cold as his performance last time out (West Prom?) was excellent too. Martin does seem to have some blind spots. Putting Mara on the wing was not good for him or for the team and, it's true, he did look somewhat pissed off. But when you see how Jo has thrived on getting a run of appearances, I think Mara could have benefitted from the same. He did well against Liverpool - yes, he missed a couple of chances but AA and CA have both missed a lot worse several times this season. Anyway, what pissed me off the most was the commentary on Saints Play. There was no co-comms and therefore no exchange and no discussion about shape or tactics. He droned on about the names and general clichés about the game. I don't know if he was at the game or in a studio or if he had replays. After the first goal, it was clear there had been a deflection and then on replay we could see it came off Che and yet he continued to wonder at KWP's marvellous goal and excellent placement of the shot. He was even more boring than our worst passing moves across and backwards in our half. We were lucky, but we won so better than other games where we threw it away in the last 30 minutes. Now we know who to bring on on 60 minutes to tighten up our tired midfield.

Has anyone watched the Smallbone goal that wasn't again? Last night it looked like the keeper and a defender were on the line playing Che onside. Was that the case?

Aribo is finally starting to look like a player who’s scored in a European final. Virtually everything he tried in the first half yesterday came off and he combined really well with KWP down the left.
He’s rangy, strong enough to hold people off and he’s still young so should get better over time. He just needs more game time.
I think he gives us more down the left than any of the other players in the squad because he’s not an out and out winger and can fill in as an extra central midfielder when needed. He’s not a speed merchant like Sulemana but a much better all-round footballer. Curly Stu likes to carry the ball forward but is sometimes a bit ponderous. Aribo eats up the ground when he gets going and his interplay with KWP was impressive.
I like Fraser too but he’s no good in the air and can’t tackle and intercept passes like Aribo can.
Aribo’s performance deserved a couple of goals last night but Adams played well too and made his own luck.

we were fecking lucky
Fraser is great, but he shouldn't start games, he gets knackered and the edge goes off, he is old now, he needs to start with 30 minutes left when the other defenders are tired that gives him (and us) an advantage.
I like Joe, but only when he gives a flock, half the time his performance can be very Jamaican, when he's on it, he can make a big difference.
But I can't comment too much because I only saw the highlights.

Confess I didn't watch it. Caught Che's second goal during half time in Dublin and tracked the score on the Sky Ap. When I tried to watch the red button recording the screen went blank on 16m apart from the clock and score top left. I watched it change from 0-0 to 1-0 but never saw the first goal till I watched the 15m highlights last night. FFS!
A win is a win. Just keep doing it and everything will be fine...

Yes that vision problem happened in real time too, it was weird. Then there was no commentary for several minutes once the picture was restored.

Need to see off Les Mademoiselles on 31 May to keep at the top.
