For once, I completely and utterly agree with you. That is exactly my feelings as well.

The prospect of having to search for new seats in a different part of the stadium and potentially paying more for this inconvenience is deeply unsatisfactory. The club's actions effectively coerce us to relocate, a decision that should be ours to make. Instead of burdening us with additional costs, they should be offering compensation for the disruption. Furthermore, the implication that the rest of us will have to bear the cost of subsidising the new 'safe-standing' area in the Northam Stand is just not acceptable.
I'm concerned about the financial and logistical implications of these changes, but there's also the safety aspect to consider. With the away fans now approaching the stadium from the same direction as a significant portion of the home fans through a relatively narrow area, there's a potential for overcrowding and increased tension. This was not an issue when only the home fans were in this area.
Since they first suggested making the Northam a 'safe-standing' area for home fans only, I have not been convinced that they will get enough people to fill it. Based on my observations over the years, many Saints fans really enjoy being right next to the away section, and they will simply move to the blocks next to wherever they choose to place the away fans. Are these not the very people the club wants to fill The Northam?
In short, it feels like an ill-thought-out decision that will have a massive impact on the stadium, not to mention the probability of reduced rather than increased attendance figures.

The obvious option is to move to the Itchen but I really don't like having to watch a game with the sun glaring in my eyes...

Joke isn't it. Why inconvenience fans, many of whom will have been sat in their seat for years / since the stadium opened.
Doesn't impact me but I just don't get it and it seems potentially dangerous when Pompey come to town next season

Its a bit worrying that the end goal is to improve the atmosphere but the means look like contradicting the ends.
I havent been in St Mary's for almost 10 years, but even I see it as absurd to have the away fans entering from that direction...

I’m not a frequent visitor to SMS either but it seems that they’re using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Hopefully it won’t have to pass the Pompey test next season!

It does ask more questions than it answers... I can't imagine that the 18-30 no kids demographic that this seems to pander to that vastly outweighs the families and "oldies' that want to sit.
The away location is similarly not ideal from the home fans or safety pov... unless they're going to build some sort of corral in that corner.
From a personal pov, not that it matters as I hardly ever go, it looks like we'd be squeezed out of our preferred Chapel end seats and will probably be forced to get the less popular ones in the standing area as there's far fewer seats to go round. Just thinking of standing with the rowdy types for a couple of hours makes me feel tired.
All in all, like a lot of modern politics, they've created a shit solution to a problem that never really existed.

Also, if they have to move the away fans make them have the sun in their eyes and put them in the Itchen corner next to where they are now. We did a season over there and it was shite

I am still fuming. As I wrote in the Stoke match thread, usually, by this stage of the week, I am generally looking forward to Saturday, but not this week. It will be the last league game I will see sat in the seat I have had since we moved to St.Mary's in 2003, but no more, thanks to SR and the vociferous minority in the fanbase. I am not sure that I will renew my season ticket without some sort of incentive. Increasing the cost is not the way to placate me. I don't even care what league we will be in next season.

Sounds like you should contact them... if enough people voice opposition to it and they see a massive downturn in ST renewals it might cause them to think twice. Essentially, this is commercially motivated; they've acceded to the safe standing and home end whingers as an excuse to redevelop the area around the stadium and expand the catering operations to the outside to hopefully capture more of fans cash instead of them eating & drinking elsewhere and tipping up at the last minute. If the changes mean they lose a lot of revenue, they'll likely think again.
