That sounds promising. I saw a tweet in Turkish about Rui Patricio and Göztepe, assumed it was already a done deal and was coming on here to moan about it. I see he’s 36 but HCDAJFU for a season. He’s married to a TV sexologist. Man, I love Wikipedia. She supports sex before matches apparently. That’s good to know. Rocky's manager would not approve.

This can only be good news in our search for a McCarthy upgrade, so let’s hold our nerve and cross our fingers!!

I agree, there is no way they would sanction Lis leaving, unless someone was definitely coming in. If that were not the case, it would mean we were down to just McCarthy and Lumley. Post Script - I typed this and hit send, then sat and looked at the two names - McCarthy and Lumley. Horrific to think they are the two keepers at the moment.

Chelsea have to sell 8 players to raise the money to buy Sancho. Not all will be keepers but lots will be. Opportunity?

Me too, it'd be very galling if they had Rui and we had to make to with McC Does she now? How about during?!? Would certainly make a change to the normal halftime "show"

The majority on buying two players we had on loan in the Champ last season. Other than that we've added a couple of lower league CBs, a couple of veteran free agents, a FB and a couple of attacking wide players. It's not much of an improvement on the team who finished 3rd in tier 2 last season. I do get you... right now I'm happy.. What would you have done? Who would you have tried to sign? It's difficult as us fans don't have the extensive coaching network a club needs in all 4 corners of the World nowadays but if we were serious about staying up we would have bought a CF (as Benners said it's not easy, but also not impossible), a keeper (Russ's blindsport) and some players of a proven quality (like O'Reilly). What we've done is sign a number of players all of which would stay with us if we got relegated which tells it's own story. I also think the KWP issue is down to this. I would think we gave him a low ball offer as we are expecting to go down and did not want to be saddled with his wages for another 3 years if his form tails off and there is little interest for him next season. The real issue is we don't know quite how bad the financial situation is/was. At least promotion should have gone a long way to addressing this. I wouldn't say this was a good window (from a fan's perspective of wanting to win games and stay up) but it is a sensible one.

I wouldn't say this was a good window (from a fan's perspective of wanting to win games and stay up) but it is a sensible one. So, theres little of substance we could do better. Keeping in mind we are a promoted club and the following players were fanciful links - Moukoko (no freaking way), O'Riley (always likely to be gazumped especially as Atlanta won a European competition last season ; and it would have meant reducing how many players we could bring in or passing up on Sugawara and Edwards and Wood in order to make sure we signed O'Riley quickly before being gazumped as we struggled to bring any money in through players out), Ramsdale (always at the mercy of a bigger club, someone who can afford a permanent deal or a loan with an obligation to buy). Those not happy with recent business usually also say we should be signing proven players, not raw ones (which i think has some truth to it but thats a spectrum not a black / white distinction). Look at the 'proven' signed by clubs above us and what its cost. Brentford's new (injured) striker, Bournemouth's striker. Look at the trouble we've had trying to sign O'Riley. Pipedreams. The marker is Ipswich and Leicester. Ipswich have done some good business, but I think worse in overall quality and certainly quantity (we were the team promoted with several loan players, and needed to sign more this summer!). Broja on a loan with a 30m staying up obligation, jesus. Proof will be 2 years down the line. Bump my comment in summer 2026.

This would be a very exciting signing. His only problem is that he’s too injury prone, but when he’s fit he is the best Dutch goalkeeper.

The move for the 26-year-old goalkeeper is so concrete that Feyenoord's scouting team is already searching for a new second-choice keeper. The Premier League newcomer is willing to spend millions on the Rotterdam club’s goalkeeper, who has fallen into a backup role at Feyenoord due to the rise of Timon Wellenreuther. Feyenoord has already received an offer, and Bijlow himself is also interested in the potential transfer. Southampton is able to meet important conditions both from the club's side and from the player's side.”

He’s just very unlucky, but it is the main reason why he’s demoted to the bench this season. www.transfermarkt.com/justin-bijlow/verletzungen/spieler/315121

Wow, never seen a GK with a record like that. Darren Anderton-esque. Bit of a gamble.

Wow, never seen a GK with a record like that. Darren Anderton-esque. Bit of a gamble. It is, but maybe a gamble they feel is worth taking in the circumstance.. his passing stats are per Baz, but he actually occasionally stops the ball going in the net. On the comparison, Johnson is a no goer - he's if anything worse that McC with the ball
