OMG this would make my summer! He can play left wing back but I’d say he’s more of a left midfielder. He’s never been lightning quick but he can cross, dribble, take set pieces and score goals (about 1 in 6 for Eintracht Frankfurt, which is a good return for a wide player). He must be getting on a bit now but I’ll be keeping everything crossed for this one as I think HCDAJFU. He did have to leave the Euros early after getting injured but he was very consistent a while back and his left foot is to die for. Again, like Ramsdale, he’s a much higher calibre of player than we currently have available in that position. Saw something earlier saying he'd turned us down. |

I do remember him scoring twice for Burnley in a 2-2 draw at St.Mary's (Broja scored one of ours!) in October 2021. I thought at the time he looked really good. Then he went to West Ham and it all went downhill for him As an afterthought, Cornet is a left sided player, so does that mean we will not be seeing Fraser back with us then?? |

State of play then:
In's
GK Ramsdale - need Arsenal to confirm it by securing the replacement
ST - Cornet - loan
Maybe one more of RW/ST variety, but the names for that are changimg every day so it feels like we're hitting lots of dead ends.
Now that Cornet is becoming more credible rumours, you can take it as JWP not happening. Couldn't do a 2nd loan from WHam or a 3rd loan within the PL even if we wanted to. Possibly Cornet is a ready to go option B if striker option A falls through, but we seem to be nowhere with the Brazilian lad or any other striker deal...
He did have a few highs at Burnley, but Cornet struck me even in that season as a very inconsistent player. Honestly, I prefer Archer. That confidence Archer has to try first time / early strikes on goal makes him a better choice.

So, it's deadline day, and should be busy - my top 3 hopes below;
1. Get the Ramsdale deal done in time so he can play tomorrow, RM said in the presser that he's hopeful that will be the case!
2. Ship a few out, preferably sales rather than loans, this could include ABK, Sully, TP, Aribo, Smallbone, Manning
3. We get completely surprised by a last minute move that no one had mentioned - that KK moment!!

JWP to Forest is happening. I'm sad. I'd have liked him back, plus I can only see him becoming a journeyman now when he could have demented his place her as a club legend captaining us back to the PL.
