I really must get on with some work soon.
But anyway. I'm not a royalist but I like days off and looking at fancy dresses. Plus I have a bit of a thing for Prince Harry (he's a naughty boy)
Tomorrow I will mostly be hosting Miss Y for a princess themed tea party.

I admit to being a royalist as I believe they are far more a power for good and unity than all the Blairs, Bushes, Belusconis, Sarkozys, Camerons that we would have without them. I can see why people don't like the hereditary part but it also stops any corruption and trying to buy support. They don't owe anyone anything for the position. I also think they pretty much pay for themselves and we are fools if we think a presidential system would be any cheaper. As for the wedding, I am less interested but will watch as my daughters like the concept of princes and princesses.

I shall have my earphones on and my back to the TV.
I've got nothing against Royalty if it actually is revenue positive to the country but they are just a bunch of inbred wallys really, aren't they?

Damned good excuse for a party and a day off, and a means by which everyone can have something to cheer.
Cynicism towards the Royal Family is obviously rife, but what I said above means that it is a good excuse for everyone to put that aside and just enjoy themselves.
And good luck to William; he is marrying his true love and that is worth celebrating. And also fair play to Charles. He was clearly pushed into marrying someone he didn't love because it was for the short-term benefit of the Royal Family, and he has been very careful to ensure his son(s) haven't been forced down that route.
I will enjoy the day tomorrow and am looking forward to watching it and celebrating with the rest of my country.

Oh yes and as for the extra day's holiday, I'm glad I'm not still a shareholder in a business that sees the government giving away a thirtieth of my income this month.
Bah humbug.

Very funny, LOL! Must admit that now the day has arrived my ambivalence towards the event has mellowed to mild curiosity. They just seem a normal (in as far as they can be normal) couple. Good on them. It's the media that is annoying the feck out of me. Scuse me, I must go and download my souvenir programme from itunes ......

I've got nothing but good thoughts about Kate and Wills today. If they weren't getting wed I'd be at work still.
I'm not going to watch the wedding live but am bound to catch the distilled highlights later. With blanket coverage on every channel there is little chance of me missing it.
In principle I ought to be a republican but in fact I rather like our monarchy. It sets us apart from all the dreary countries in the world. And given the track record of UK voters for electing uttercoonts as Prime Ministers, I'd be buggered if I'd trust them to elect our head of state too.
I hope today is super for the Royal Family and all those who love this sort of stuff. Knock yourselves out. FACT.
Meanwhile, I'm off to Sainsburys while it is quiet.

Yep, I too should be a republican, but I do admit to quite liking the younger side of the Royal family. I also think that Charles has had a rough deal, and very rough, Diana loving press. I think he will be a good King. But the Queen, Princess Anne, Andrew, Edward, and in particular their Greek father, I have little time for. However I wouldn't change them, I just hope they change!

I too am ambivalent about it; it's on so I'm half watching it as I potter about, but all the hooha is a bit much for me. Good luck to the actual couple, weddings are nervy enough affairs at the best of times without 1/2 the world watching you...
I did stop and check when I just came in for the "and now if anyone knows any reason.." bit - the crowd was disappointly silent.
