I have just been wondering what it would take for me to show an interest in watching them again.
I think it boils down to two things. Firstly, a positive, interesting manager that is good at what he does and can get the best out of the players (Damn, I'm talking about Adkins, aren't I?!).
Secondly it will be for all the miserable, cynical old guard (we all know who they are) to be put out to pasture and bring in some of the exciting new breed.
Until then I will continue to ignore them.

I think my love affair with England ended in 1990 when I cried when they got knocked out.
There's no one quite like Gazza.

If the FA give in to the media mafia and give the England job to Rednapp we might as well forget international football. He certainly wont be playing any young players or help to build England teams for the future, it will be jobs for the arse lickers. The only man with the vision to take the England setup forward and to put in place methods that will bring England success in the future is Hoddle. Hoddle was sacked for non-football reasons (and yes, he did deserve the sack for his loathesome comments) and Saints fans only dislike him for the timing of his departure from us. We missed a massive opportunity by not rehiring him. There, I've said it.

I watch every England and most Scotand games on TV - apart from when I actually go to Wembley to watch England games. I last went in June for the 2-2 draw with Switzerland.
It is football FFS. You either like football or you don't. The idea of liking some football and not all of it is derranged.
Half you mongs will be watching the Rugby tomorrow. Disgraceful! If the coonts were playing in my back garden I'd pull the curtains FFS! The prospect of watching MK Dons on Monday night is much more exciting.

Couldn't give a stuff about England, although my dad is coming round tonight to watch the game so I guess I'll see it.
I used to like England when Channon played, and my dad would often take me up to Wembley. I then went to Matty's first game, but the horrible xenophobic attitude of the crowd put me off, then the way Matty was treated put the final nail in the coffin. Add to that John Terry, Ashley Cole etc and you can stick it.
I won't be watching any rugby either.

I only watch games when I feel a personal involvement. So Saints, yes. England rugby, yes. England cricket, yes. England football, not really for all the reasons given above.

By your rationale, you would get as much enjoyment out of watching, I don't know, Young Boys as you would from watching Saints. And why is it disgraceful to watch and support the Englad rugby team? I, like many, love many sports and rugby is one of those. The main reason I struggle to find any love for the England football team is because of the personal element to it. I want England to do well but I cannot bring myself to follow and support them because of frankly vile human beings that have been the mainstay of the team in recent years. I would find it too hypocritical to support people like Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Ashley Cole after some of the things that they have done in their private lives. They, and the England team, encapsulate everything that has gone wrong with the sport that i used to love. The only remaining link I have to that sport is Saints. I never watch any other football apart from other matches on the football league show, and in recent years i have read newspaper articles about certain young footballers being called up to the England squad who I have never even heard of. If anyone asks me what my favourite sport is, my first reaction is either cricket or golf. Football never comes into it. Before i turned 20, it would have been football every time.

I doubt I'll watch the England game as they're a bunch of feckless coonts who since the turn of the milennium have largely, in cahoots with the self-serving meeja, have done nothing but disgrace myself.
Also, we're going out to dinner tonight. But having said that, he's a Chelsea fan so may have the game on as presumably he likes the likes of Terry and Cashley; so it may be on in the background.
I will however be watching the rugby, as they generally can be relied on to play with pride for the England shirt. (provided I remember to get up in time, that is).

To watch and enjoy Rugby you'd need to have some idea of the rules and, frankly, life is too short.
Anyway, I've got my Brighton tickets ordered so no need for me to hang around any longer. I'm off out.
Come on Engerlund!

Not at all Spot. I still love the Saints, and being unfaithful as I am i still had cricket to pick me up when football knocked me down. I don't feel like I miss anything at all. Let's be honest, if I did then i would follow football again.
As a general rule, i follow teams that i have love and respect for; Saints, the England cricket team who could show a thing or two to their footballing counterparts about playing with world-beating skill and enormous pride in their shirt, and then the same with the England rugby team (though with a bit less of the skill).
When i was growing up i loved football with a wide-eyed excitement,, borne from watching Keegan and Moran and poring over my Panini sticker albums from dawn till dusk. That wide-eyed excitement disappeared when you could just tell that the footballers themselves had lost that wide-eyed excitement because of the money that was on offer to them. I don't necessarily blame the footballers themselves; they have been ruined by the money.
