There's loads of players apparently rejected from other clubs that I'd like. Chelsea seem keen to offload Rudiger, also I see Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley both linked with loans to Villa and West Ham and either would be very handy for us, so why are we not in the conversation?

I see from The Athletic yesterday that the negotiations for the sale of the club are continuing with the American group. I suspect that talk of loan signings, rather than outright purchases, is all part of this process. Cyclists. A controversial topic at the moment. I normally have few complaints about cyclists on the roads around here, but since March it has turned into a plague. The ones I have real problems with are easy to spot, they generally have racing bikes, are dressed in lycra and have at least one camera on their helmet, sometimes body cameras as well. They tend to be the most pushy, tend to ride in packs and are difficult to give enough safe room to pass. As with most things in life, it is the minority that give the majority a bad name. What gets on my tits is cyclists on Island roads. We have hundreds of miles of cycle paths but they still clog up our lousy little roads. The concept of cycling being Green does not wash. Our roads are choked with traffic during (a normal) Summer and it pains me to see about 30 vehicles creeping up hills in first gear with some cyclist struggling at the front. If we are serious about green transport we need to radically alter our road infrastructure because mixing bikes and vehicles is both dangerous and polluting. Keep them apart FFS! Sorry Spot, but that is complete bollocks. I’m one of those, it’s my passion and sport now I can’t play football anymore, which I miss terribly, but I can’t turn back time. I cycle about 3000 miles a year and it gives me amazing physical and mental health positives, has helped me make some great new friends, and has taken me to places I would never have been. In the last three years I’ve raised over 30000 of your English pounds for charity (for my daughters school and MacMillan Cancer) riding the Etape du Tour last year for my best mate who died of cancer 6 months before. So what if a few mates want to go out for a ride, has it really ruined your life to share the road patiently. I can tell you that for every time I’ve ridden badly there has been 10 times some idiot has shouted at me for a laugh, driven too close, revved their engine of slammed their brakes on just after overtaking. Still, you’ve every right to feel as you do. Free world

Returning to the point of the thread...
The Davies from Everton story is apparently rooted from the time it looked like Højbjerg was going to Everton. We seem to have enquired about Davies in part-exchange, but there has been no contact since.

All through lockdown our (useless Tory) council hummed and ha-ed about bringing in new cycle lanes. A few weeks ago they quietly shelved the initiative much to the annoyance of our local Green candidate. We need leaders with vision not Victorian values if we are going to make this a world worth living in. The status quo is just shit.

Cycling should be encouraged but catered for, more should get on a bike but there needs to be cycle lanes, not forcing cyclists on to narrow singled lanes roads... cars are too big these days, throw in a load of cyclists and roads the same width as in the 60s and you’ve got problems.

Well that's bollux. You could have got there by car. And you would have reached your destination much quicker!

And as if by magic, after my whinge upthread, the BBC gossip column says the Mail thinks we are interested in him too now. Also Ralph has come out asking for 3 signings which sounds more like it, although maybe he thinks that by asking for 3 he'll get 2.

Yeah, we'll surely have 3 signings in total: KWP Salisu Stuart Taylor on a 1 year deal as 4th choice keeper and midfield cover

Harry Wilson being linked again £20m asking price. Seems unlikely with Armstrong, Redmond, Boufal, Djenpo, Smallbone all competing for 2 positions behind the front two. Even if Boufal was moved on, I think we've got it covered. That said I see people on Twitter saying he's no good. To be honest I'm not sure about that, decent scoring stats for a winger and performed well in some weak teams out on loan. With all those attacking options I can't see us spending £20m on someone that may struggle to get into the first team - is he any better than Redmond or Djenepo (who I hope will flourish this season). I saw some talk of Stephens moving into the DMF position, leaving Salisu & Bednarek as the first choice CBs, just not sure he is mobile enough to fill that role?? Reed seemed the obvious choice to compete with Romeo for the place but as he's gone so assuming we have our eye on someone else - perhaps the Twitter rumour of Koopmeiners which appeared popular? Leeds in for him now.

Must admit I liked that goal he stuck away on Saturday. He certainly wouldn't make us worse...

Think Loftus-Cheek would be a great move for us. Young English player with great potential who is never going to get the games at a big club as high priced Johnny Foreigner will be playing instead. Same situation as with KWP and that is working out just fine.
Loan with an option/obligation to buy would be good. I don't think he would be thinking he is ever going to be a regular at Chelsea.

The Athletic also think we're looking at Ryan Sessegnon.
Spurs want a loan fee plus his salary paid but no agreement to sell.

Sessegnon would be good, but it's defensive MF we really need to strengthen in.
Looks like Loftus-Cheek is doing to Villa. Hey-ho...
