Adam Blackmore thinks we went back in for Brandon Williams at the last minute but Solskjaer blocked it, and we might go back in January. I hope so because I now have my eye on him as long term Bertrand replacement. He may be seen as the Telles replacement by OGS. Perhaps we should have asked about Luke Shaw...

Yes, I saw that late last night about Brandon Williams. The Athletic were saying that Williams himself went to OGS to ask to go to Southampton, but was told it wasn't going to happen.

I'm pretty content with that window, pretty much got in (on paper) what we needed to, and added Theo as a late bonus. Much like others on here, I've not really been keen on having him back, but now that he is, I'm warming to it. What Theo brings compared to the majority of our wide men is smart running and playing off the shoulder. Theo tends to know where to be in an attacking sense and has definitely got a goal or two in him.
What has me a little confused is what these transfers mean in terms of ownership. A lot of transactions have taken place here, both in and out, and I suspect our net spend is higher than it has been since Koeman first arrived. So is this a sign of the owners showing a bit of commitment to staying? Or is it a sign that they want to make the club a more attractive package to sell by offloading the deadwood and bringing in some exciting youthful talent?
Either way, I think most can be pretty happy with our activity this summer/autumn.

Either way, I think most can be pretty happy with our activity this summer/autumn. In fees, we are at about 35m spent for Salisu, KWP and Diallo, with around 21m recouped on Reed and Hojberg. Lemina is a compulsory buy next summer I think which probably brings that up to around 30m on players out. The big question mark will be what has it cost us to dispense of Carillo and Boufal. But we have started to clear up a little space to play with in the wagebill I suspect. I suspect you are right in that we have seen a bit more financial commitment.. but didn't we take out an additional overdraft with the bank this summer? I think that debt is the more plausible explanation. And we're still in the five most parsimonious clubs in the league on net spend this window. But hey I guess we're not Burnley so should stay thankful.
