That Sun headline is the most moronic thing I've seen in years. How can there be ANY question over Murdoch being suitable to have anything to do with the media? You'd have to be as thick as Louise Mensch to support him. The FA and the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) have today received a large number of objections relating to the front page headline in The Sun newspaper, regarding Roy Hodgson’s manner of speech. On this occasion, we will not be making an official complaint to the PCC but we have raised it with the newspaper and made it clear that their front page is unacceptable to us. With regard to the above, FA Chairman David Bernstein said: “We are delighted at the media response to Roy’s appointment but are disappointed with the headline in The Sun, which we consider is in poor taste and disrespectful.”

Just heard a Daily Mirror journalist talking about this headline. He can't pronounce his H's or his T's.

Just heard a Daily Mirror journalist talking about this headline. He can't pronounce his H's or his T's. His editor has trouble pronouncing his Ts and Fs (FFS); He can't say fairer than that!

However, I have to say that it was quite funny that Bernstein- who can't pronounce his "r" sound either- immediately referred to Hodgson as "Woy" in the press conference.

Joking apart - I find it amazing that so many people with speech impediments end up in top jobs. I guess their efforts to overcome the impediment make them very driven people.
My first boss had an awful stammer. When I went for the interview the HR guy told me "whatever you do, don't finish his sentences." It was good advice. He was an odd fish, but one of the cleverest blokes I've ever met. Worked for him for 6 years.

A pedant writes. Mispronouncing Rs, same is mis (or not) pronouncing H's is not an impediment. It's a speech feature. It made lead to bullying but it does not impede in a way as, say, stammering does. Just MHO.

I have to say, the fact that Alan Smith- an ugly, boring man with a Brummie accent and a speech impediment- has a job as a commentator never ceases to amaze me.

There was an article in the Independant this week reckoning Ratknapp has been treated really badly. Well I don't think he has but if he has then good. I just hope Hodgson does not get a rough ride - he seems like a very nice man.

Redknapp hasn't been treated badly by the FA. They just never contacted him because they weren't interested.

How can Redknapp have been treated really badly by anyone except the media? There was a job going, he wasn't approached. The only people that approached him regarding the job were the media and built it into a "racing certainty". The FA did exactly what they said they'd do, took their time and appointed someone capable.
On the basis of the Independent's thinking I ought to be really pissed off that I've not got the Met Commissioners job despite every single one of my mates telling me my ideas on policing make me a shoo-in!

My idea on policing is that anyone who atually wants to be a copper these days is probably completely inappropriate for the job.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17935726This just goes to show that he'll do ANYTHING for money. Wasn't it the Beeb who first tried to shed light on his brown envelope-related activities. "Well, y'know, I don't hold grudges, I'm just looking forward to working with Lawro, Klinsy, Jamesy, Hanseny and Gary-y Lineker-y, f'sure."
